Gazette.Net: Robert Frost Middle School named state Blue Ribbon school

Robert Frost Middle School in Rockville, was named a Maryland 2013 Blue Ribbon School on Thursday by the Maryland State Department of Education, the only Montgomery County school this year to earn the award.

Frost Principal Joey Jones said he was surprised when he heard the news, but only because the award isn’t something individual schools apply for. MSDE makes the selection from the entire pool of schools throughout the state.

“I always tell my students and staff they are the best on the planet and [today] when I made the announcement I told them they are the best on the planet again,” Jones said.

Frost was just one of two middle schools in the state — the other being Folly Quarter Middle School in Howard County — named for this year’s honor. Other schools selected include Chadwick and Charlesmont elementary schools in Baltimore County; Century High School in Carroll County and Boonsboro High School in Washington County.
